For over 10 years we have specialised in rearing a wide variety of point of lay hens. Almost uniquely we raise over 2000 hens every quarter, from day old chicks. This enables us to produce excellent friendly hens, all of which have grown up together and which will produce lots of excellent eggs!We have a wide range of customers, many of whom are keeping chickens for the first time and who therefore require personal advice, not only in respect of suitable hens, but also with regard to the type of hen house and all the accessories. No customer is too small for us and many take only 2 or 3. The chickens are hybrids which lay eggs all year round. We can now source not just the famous "brown farmyard hen", but also many coloured birds including Speckledys(based on the Moran), Light Sussex, Corals, Bovans Nera, & Magpies.We hold regular open days, which are advertised on our website. These attract a large number of people, many of whom are contemplating keeping hens for the first time. Others come to expand their knowledge and see just how we raise and care for our hens.If you have never kept chickens before, now is the time to start. They will provide you and more importantly your children, with a huge amount of pleasure and lots of lovely fresh eggs. Contrary to popular belief, hey are not difficult to keep and only require a small amount of space.We look forward to hearing from you, or better still seeing you at the farm. Hen Keeping Classes Weds 25th August 6:30pm & Sat 4th Sept 9:30am Our hen keeping classes are ideal for both beginners and those wishing to expand their knowledge of hen keeping. Please register by emailing us or by calling 01795 531124, we will then confirm by email. You will see the hen house options and be able to ask any questions you may have about keeping some hens in your garden. We can also supply all the accessories you may need, including feed. We will be offering special hen-keeping starter packages, which will include hens, a hen house and all the accessories required to keep hens - hopefully we can find an option for your budget. Children are most welcome, they will see how friendly hens are, handle them and see how easily they become part of the family! There is a small charge of £5 per family.
Next batch of Laying Hens ready from the 13th September We will have our next back of laying hens that have been raised by us from day olds ready from the middle of September - we are not wholesalers!! They will be around 16 weeks old, will have been fully vaccinated and ready to lay. You can see details of all our current breeds here.
